Yeti claim in Nepal by Explorer
A team of Japanese adventurers say they have discovered footprints they believe were made by the legendary yeti said to roam the Himalayan regions of Nepal and Tibet.
“The footprints were about 20 cm long and looked like a human’s,” said Yoshiteru Takahashi, the leader of the Yeti Project Japan.
Takahashi was speaking after he returned with his sevenmember team from their third attempt to track down the halfman-half-ape, tales of which have gripped the imaginations of Western adventurers and mountaineers for decades.
Thrillseekers free fall from roof of the world, Mount Everest
Launching themselves from 22,000 feet this morning, the skydivers had around one minute in free fall before a parachute descent that offered a stunning Himalayan panorama.
“It was like floating on a cloud while looking at the highest mountains in the world. The views of Everest were amazing, you could even see base camp,” said Steve Hennessy, an Australian skydive instructor, who made one of the first descents yesterday .
The unprecedented jumps are being offered as a commercial enterprise by High and Wild, a British adventure travel company .
The first 32 clients each paid $24,000 to be part of an exercise that the company it self classified as “touching madness.”
